Description

Request of the board of Eight men, that Jan Damen be expelled; protest of said Damen; resolutions of the Eight men to renew the war against the Indians, except those of Long island, who are to be encouraged to bring in the heads of some of the enemy, to enlist as many men as possible, and to meet every Saturday. [1643] (page 176);Minute, setting forth the arrival of the ship Fortune from the Canary islands with wine, but short of provisions and water, requesting permission to sell some of the cargo on payment of duties, which the master afterwards refused to pay, and dropped down towards Staten island, where he transferred part of his wines to Isaac Allerton's bark; ship seized and ordered back into port, but instead of returning, Jacob Gerritsen Blenck, the skipper, sailed in the night, and was prosecuted; sentence, Jacob Gerritsen Blenck is declared a rebel, a contemner of justice and a defrauder of the company's rights; fined 300 guilders and his ship and cargo confiscated, with costs.
