Description

Sentence. Jan Willemsen van Iselsteyn, commonly called Jan of Leyden, for expressing abusive language, and writing an insolent letter to the magistrates of Bushwyck; that he be fastened to a stake at the place of public execution, with a bridle in his mouth, rods under his arm, and a paper on his breast with an inscription — "Lampoon writer, False accuser and Defamer of its magistrates," and afterwards banished, with costs.
