Textiles and linens were an important part of the wealth of a family, and were particularly important as a measure of a woman's wealth.   Wills often contained inventories  of these items and sometimes specific bequests.   For example the inventory of Margarieta van Varick's estate contained specific bequests of bedding, clothing, and linens.
