Description

23-27 August 1640. Dismissal of David Provoost as commissary of provisions, and appointment of Maurits Jansen in his place. [1640];Court proceedings. Tymon Jansen vs. Laurens Haen, slander; judgment for plaintiff, and defendant fined. [1640];Order on an application of Peter Draper, bearer of a letter from Leonard Calvert, governor of Maryland, for the rendition of Edward Griffins, an alleged fugitive servant. Said Griffins proves, by the evidence of Henry Penington, of Hackemac, that he was not a servant, but a prisoner, in Maryland; that he was a servant of captain Clabers, in Virginia. Draper to agree with Griffins for his discharge; Griffins to give security for any claim of Claber (see Vol. 1, p. 214.) [1640] (Page 75).;30 August 1640. Court proceedings.
